The Wheaton Citizens Police Academy is a 10-week program that offers a chance for community members to learn the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives.
The 2025 Citizens Police Academy will take place each Tuesday, Aug. 26 through Oct. 28, 2025, from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
The application sign-up period for the 2025 Citizen's Police Acadamy is now closed.
The academy consists of classroom instruction, interactive discussions, and hands-on practical exercises focusing on various aspects of police work, including investigations, forensics, patrol response, traffic stops, specialty teams, critical incidents, and more.
To be eligible, individuals must be at least 21 years old and live or work in the City of Wheaton. All applicants will be subjected to a criminal background investigation. The academy will be limited to 20 individuals. Classes are free and will be held at the Wheaton Police Department and nearby locations.
