Traffic Safety

The Wheaton Police Department is dedicated to promoting roadway safety within the City of Wheaton through public education and the implementation of proactive enforcement strategies.

The Wheaton Police Department Traffic Unit is comprised of four patrol officers and a sergeant with the primary focus of addressing known and reported traffic concerns throughout the city. All traffic concerns are directly reviewed and vetted by Traffic Unit officers, who develop an appropriate enforcement plan.

The Traffic Unit also utilizes multiple technology resources to help pinpoint optimal enforcement periods based on current traffic data. This technology is utilized year-round and is shared collaboratively with other city departments to enhance roadway conditions and safety measures.
