Prevailing Wage

It shall be the responsibility of entities and individuals doing contracted business with the City of Wheaton to determine whether the Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq.) applies.

As of June 1, 2019, the prevailing wage schedule published by the Illinois Department of Labor automatically sets the applicable prevailing wage rates and the City of Wheaton no longer approves an annual prevailing wage ordinance.

The Prevailing Wage Act contains administrative and recordkeeping requirements that the City and its contractors are mandated to strictly follow. For projects that require a prevailing wage, copies of all certified payrolls must be submitted to the City no later than the 15th day of each calendar month, in person, by mail, or electronically. The Prevailing Wage Act should be consulted for the specific details pertaining to this requirement and for additional mandated requirements.
