At 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, the Wheaton Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 300 block of East Franklin Street. The home’s residents and pets were able to evacuate prior to the Wheaton Fire Department’s arrival, and the fire did not cause any injuries.
Approximately 30 firefighters from the Wheaton Fire Department and several other departments assisted in extinguishing the fire. A fire investigation was completed by on-scene responders. The fire was mostly contained to the kitchen, however the building was determined to be not habitable at this time.
The Wheaton Police, Water and Building departments were notified and responded to the scene. As of 12:45 p.m., most of the fire companies had returned from the scene.
