The City of Wheaton encourages the community to come together for Wheaton’s annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at Memorial Park, 225 N. Karlskoga Ave. This event pays tribute to the individuals our community lost in the September 11 attacks and the ensuing military conflicts, and it honors fire and police personnel. Due to rain forecast for the ceremony time, this event will take place in the Memorial Park Bandshell near the intersection of Karlskoga Avenue and Wheaton Avenue.
In addition to remarks by Wheaton Mayor Philip Suess and Wheaton’s Fire and Police Departments, this year’s ceremony will include remarks by historian Bob Goldsborough, who will reflect on how September 11 touches our community, and music by Wheaton Municipal Band musicians, bagpiper Mike O’Donnell and Wheaton College.
We look forward to joining together as a community to remember all those we lost and honor those who sacrifice their lives to protect our community and our nation.
We extend a special thank you to the partners who are helping with this event, including the Wheaton Park District, Wheaton College, Wheaton Municipal Band, Wheaton Franciscans and flag display by Doodlebug Workshop.
