The Wheaton Sanitary District has informed the City of Wheaton that its contracted crews will temporarily close the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Childs Street while crews install a new sewer and relocate the water main in this area. This intersection will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, and it is anticipated to reopen by the end of the day Friday, Aug. 26.
Drivers should use the posted detour route around this intersection, which will direct drivers to use Liberty and Woodlawn Street.
This work is part of the Wheaton Sanitary District’s Northside Interceptor Project, a multi-year project to replace sewer pipes in the area. The Wheaton Sanitary District is a separate entity from the City of Wheaton that provides sewerage treatment for a substantial part of Wheaton.
