The Wheaton Police Department invites the community to visit them and support Special Olympics Illinois through the Coffee of Champions between 5 a.m. and noon Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at the Dunkin’ location at Roosevelt Road and President Street. Formerly called “Cop on a Rooftop,” this event supports the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.
“We enjoy opportunities to engage with our community and support the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois,” said Community Engagement Officer Crystal Miroballi. “The Wheaton community continues to amaze us with how generous and supportive they are, and we look forward to this chance to see everyone who stops by.”
Any donations made at the event benefit Special Olympics Illinois, and each guest who makes a donation will receive a coupon for a free donut. This is the 18th year law enforcement agencies across Illinois have partnered with Dunkin’ for this event.
Earlier this year, the Wheaton Police Department, Wheaton Fire Department and District 200 raised more than $20,000 for Special Olympics Illinois through their Polar Plunge. Members of the Polar Plunge team also ran in the Virtual Torch Run in June.
Special Olympics Illinois is a nonprofit organization that provides year-round training and competition in 18 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. For more information, see the Special Olympics Illinois website.
