At approximately 4:40 a.m. on October 18, 2020, the Wheaton Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Gamon Road.

Upon arrival, fire crews identified a heavily involved attached garage fire at a single-family home. The home was unoccupied and under renovation at the time of the fire. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, and it caused extensive damage to the structure. The fire did not result in any injuries, and there was no damage to adjoining properties. Estimated fire damage is in excess of $200,000, and the exact cause of the fire is undetermined but not believed to be suspicious in nature.

The Wheaton Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several neighboring fire departments. The structure was posted uninhabitable due to the fire damage and the property was turned back over to the property owner after the fire.
