[ARCHIVED] Storm Damage Update

Wheaton City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street

The City of Wheaton has responded to a number of locations in Wheaton where damage occurred during today’s severe thunderstorm. Public Works crews are continuing to clear streets of tree damage, and traffic signals are flashing red in some areas.  

The Wheaton Fire and Police Departments have responded to reports of damage, including the steeple being blown off of College Church in Wheaton. The storm does not appear to have caused structural damage to the main church building or other buildings around it.  

Some areas in Wheaton continue to be without power, and estimated restoration is unknown at this time. Please report power outages to ComEd at 1-800-EDISON1 (800-334-7661) or https://www.comed.com/Outages/ReportanOutage/Pages/default.aspx. You can also visit ComEd’s site to learn how to report outages by text message or receive text updates. If you encounter a downed power line, please do not attempt to move it and report it to ComEd. All other emergency situations should be reported by calling 9-1-1. Wheaton’s Police and Fire Departments will respond.
