police general photo

The City of Wheaton and the Wheaton Police Department are aware of a planned protest and march from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, starting at Adams Park. Organizers have advertised this event as a peaceful protest. Protests of this nature are a protected form of the Constitutional right to free speech and assembly.

Participants are planning to walk on sidewalks. Vehicular traffic may experience minor delays when the pedestrian groups are crossing intersections. Organizers have shared this route:

  • Starting from Adams Park
  • South on Main Street
  • West on Front Street
  • North on West Street
  • East on Union Avenue
  • South on Main Street to Adams Park

The Wheaton Police Department has been in contact with the event’s organizer, and officers will be present for everyone’s safety. We expect this will be a peaceful gathering and we respect the right of people to assemble peacefully, but we remind attendees that violent, criminal acts will not be tolerated.

The Wheaton Police Department and City of Wheaton will continue to keep the community up-to-date.
