[ARCHIVED] Prairie Path Clean-Up & Native Plant Sale Cancelled

Prairie Path Clean Up Cancelled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wheaton Environmental Improvement Commission’s Prairie Path Clean-Up and Native Plant Sale have been cancelled.

Originally scheduled for late April and then tentatively scheduled for later in May, both events have now been cancelled in response to Governor Pritzker’s Stay-At-Home Executive Order, which was recently extended through the end of May. The Executive Order prohibits public gatherings of more than 10 people, and both events have been cancelled to keep the public safe while adhering to the Governor’s Executive Order.

The Environmental Improvement Commission encourages the community to consider choosing native plants in their landscapes due to their environmental benefits, such as requiring less water than non-native plants and their ability to provide habitats for local wildlife. In addition, the commission encourages residents to help keep the Illinois Prairie Path litter-free for all to use. While a large organized event can’t take place during this time, individuals or families can pick up litter at any time on their own to help with this effort.
