On Sept. 17, 2019 at approximately 10:00 a.m., James R. Povolo, 75, of Naperville, Ill., surrendered to the Wheaton Police Department on an original warrant for his arrest. The accompanying complaint alleges Povolo committed the offenses of Distribution of Harmful Material and Disorderly Conduct on Sept. 1, 2019. These offenses are alleged to have occurred at The Vineyard Church of DuPage, 1900 Manchester Road, Wheaton.
Mr. Povolo was also charged with the offense of Attempt Obstructing Justice, which was alleged to have occurred on Sept. 13, 2019. Mr. Povolo posted 10% of a $7,500 bond and was released. His next court date was set in room 4003 on Oct. 23, 2019 at 9:00 am. at the DuPage County Courthouse.
