On February 11, 2019, the Wheaton Police Department received a report from a concerned Wheaton parent regarding inappropriate social media communication between their child and an unknown adult. The parent oversees their child's social media accounts and immediately notified the police when the inappropriate communication was discovered.
The Wheaton Police Department's Investigations Division worked with the parent, which led to the arrest of Muhammad Shoaib for Indecent Solicitation of a Child - Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse. Shoaib is currently being held at the DuPage County Jail on a $75,000.00 (10% to apply) bond.
"The proactive parenting and cooperation of our resident with the Police Department helped identify and arrest a potential child sex predator," said Wheaton Deputy Police Chief Youker.
