[ARCHIVED] Wheaton Library Director Named Librarian of the Year

The City of Wheaton is pleased to announce that Betsy Adamowski, Director of the Wheaton Public Library, is the 2018 recipient of the Illinois Library Association (ILA) Librarian of the Year Award. The award recognizes a librarian’s distinguished service and leadership in Illinois libraries.

Among Adamowski’s accomplishments noted by the Illinois Library Association are her work to improve the Wheaton Public Library, creating a business resource center, a coffee shop, a 21st-century interior remodel vision plan, a community engagement department, and an arts and culture center. She has instituted numerous partnerships and is active in the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Lions Club. The Wheaton Chamber of Commerce also recognized the Wheaton Public Library as its 2017 winner of the Large Business of the Year award.

The ILA also recognized Adamoski’s leadership in the Illinois Library Association, serving as its president in 2015-16, and with a long history serving on a variety of leadership committees and the executive board.
