Due to the heavy snow this morning, LRS suspended its garbage/recycling pickup operations partway through service routes to ensure the safety of its drivers. As a result, some Friday routes in Wheaton did not receive garbage/recycling service or pickup of their live Christmas tree.
With severe winter weather conditions expected to continue into Saturday, LRS will be unable to complete these routes this weekend, and garbage and recycling carts should be brought in from the curb. LRS is asking Wheaton residents who did not receive their usual service today to hold onto their garbage, recycling and live Christmas trees until next week on your normal pickup day.
If you have more garbage or recyclables than will fit in your blue carts on Jan. 19, LRS will collect a reasonable amount of garbage/recycled materials that are placed next to the appropriate blue carts in a contained manner (ex: garbage in a bag, recycled materials in a box or other appropriate container). Stickers are not required for the items outside the carts. Christmas tree pickup will be extended for one more week for Friday routes and do not require a sticker to be picked up Jan. 19.
Thank you for your understanding during these extraordinary circumstances.
