Last Week for Leaf/Yard Waste Pickup
The week of Dec. 9 will be Lakeshore’s final pickup for yard waste and leaves. Pickups will be on your regular garbage day. Each biodegradable bag/container must have a sticker in order to be picked up. For more information, visit the City’s website.
City Seeks Feedback on Proposed Building Code Amendments
The City of Wheaton is in the process of updating building codes to the 2018 editions of the International Code Council, Inc (ICC) and will be adopting local amendments of those building codes appropriate for the City of Wheaton. Adoption of the most recent ICC building code editions with local amendments promotes the health, safety, and welfare of our community.
City Staff is recommending adoption of the 2018 ICC initiated changes, which are summarized on the City’s website. The City is looking for feedback on the proposed amendments from the community by Friday, Dec. 13. Gingerbread House Contest is Dec. 14
Wheaton Public Library will host a Gingerbread House Contest on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. in the library’s Arts & Culture Center on the main floor. No registration is required to enter the contest, but participants must drop off their edible creations between noon and 1 p.m. on the day of the contest.
Prizes will be awarded for the following categories: Children (up through 5th grade), Teen (6th-12th grade), Adult (18+), and People’s Choice (voted by program attendees). Group entries are allowed, but each group or individual may enter only one house per category. Entries must be decorated primarily by a person of the age in the category in which they are entered.
