New Martin Memorial Plaza Dedication & Vintage Rides Kickoff This Friday
Join the City of Wheaton and the Downtown Wheaton Association for a special rededication of the Martin Memorial Plaza on Friday, May 24. It will also serve as the “We’re Back on Front Street!” kickoff of the Vintage Rides classic car show season, which returns to Front Street on Friday nights for the summer.
Check out the vintage cars starting at 6 p.m., and celebrate the rededication of Martin Memorial Plaza (on Front Street just west of Main Street) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. The special evening will celebrate the new Front Street improvements and will feature vintage cars, music, strolling entertainment, cake and food vendors.
A focal point of the work completed in Phase 1 of the Downtown Streetscape Project, the new Martin Memorial Plaza features an outdoor fireplace, water feature, unique planters with a nod to Wheaton’s railroad history, a large gather space with tables and chairs, and overhead light strands that set a festive mood at night.
