Municipal Election is Tuesday
Registered Wheaton voters can weigh in with their choice for Wheaton Mayor and two At-Large positions on the Wheaton City Council during the April 2 Consolidated Election. This election will also include Park District Board and School Board positions. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2. First-Ever Syringe Collection Part of April 6 Recycling Extravaganza
As part of Wheaton’s Recycling Extravaganza on Saturday, April 6, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office will offer the first syringe collection to keep sharps out of landfills, out of the hands of drug users, and preventing the spread of communicable diseases. See this video to hear why the Sheriff’s Office is providing this service. If you will be dropping off syringes or epi-pens from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 6, in Commuter Parking Lot 9 (Carlton & Liberty Drive), please bring them in a hard plastic container such as a laundry detergent container. Downtown Improvements Underway
Phase 2 of Wheaton's Downtown Streetscape is underway. Crews are currently working on the north side of Wesley Street upgrading the storm sewer system and will soon be moving to the east side of Cross Street.
This summer, Wesley, Cross and Hale Street will see wider sidewalks, new lighting, new benches and amenities, and all new roadway. For more information and a project timeline, please visit www.wheaton.il.us/downtownstreetscape.
Yard Waste & Food Scrap Program Collection Resumes Next Week
Yard waste and food scrap collection will resume the first week of April on your regular garbage day. See the City’s website for information about yard waste stickers, available at City Hall and local grocery and hardware stores.
Good Citizen Award Nomination Deadline Approaching
Do you know someone who you think deserves to be recognized for his or her service in the community? Wheaton’s Community Relations Commission encourages you to nominate a person or group for Wheaton’s 2019 Good Citizens Award. Nominations are due April 8.
