Main Street Work Under Way
R.W. Dunteman Company, the contractor that is resurfacing North Main Street in Wheaton, began milling North Main Street between Seminary Avenue and Cole Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 11. This phase of work will last approximately 4 days. One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open during this work, but lanes will be shifted to accommodate this work. Please use caution in the work area to help ensure the safety of work crews and motorists. Crews anticipate that they will begin pavement resurfacing the week of Sept. 17. ?
Paper Shredding and Recycling Extravaganza Offered
The SCARCE Green Fair this Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. will also include paper shredding. Bring up to 3 paper bags/bankers boxes to the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road, for secure off-site shredding. Remove things like binders, page protectors, paper clips and file tabs - but staples don't need to be removed.? You can also bring items including electronics, books, CDs, metal house keys, SLA batteries, empty propane tanks, bicycles in any condition and more. Historic Bike Tour of Wheaton
Bring your bike and join the Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Commission and the City of Wheaton Historic Commission on Saturday, September 22, from 2-4 p.m. for a bicycle tour of the historic WWI sites of Wheaton. This moderately paced bike tour will provide a new way to experience the historic and cultural resources of our community. During the tour stops,?docents will explain the significance of various WWI historic points in Wheaton. All riders must provide their own bicycle and wear a bike helmet during the tour. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult rider. We will meet at the bike racks on the west side of the Wheaton Public Library next to Adams Park and leave at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
