Traffic Light Work at Front & West StreetsContractors have turned off the traffic signals at the intersections of West Street & Front Street and West Street & Liberty Drive in order to replace the traffic signal system on Front Street. During this time, both intersections will be temporarily controlled by stop signs, similar to the temporary traffic control at Main & Front and Main & Liberty. The temporary stop signs will be in place for approximately 6-8 weeks to allow contractors to complete the signal work.
At the train tracks, traffic in both directions will have a stop sign before the tracks along with signs stating "do not stop on tracks," but then will continue free-flow through the intersections to avoid queues on the tracks. The City reminds motorists to never stop on the train tracks. For more information, see the City’s website.

New Speed Limit for Neighborhood StreetsWheaton residential neighborhood streets now have a new speed limit. On Aug. 1, neighborhood streets changed from 30 mph to 25 mph. Public Works crews are in the process of changing out speed limit signs throughout the City. Find out which streets are not included in this change and more information at www.wheaton.il.us/Drive25. If you have a Drive 25 yard sign, please remember that it needs to be on private property, not on the parkway. (This typically means behind the sidewalk, closer to your house).
