Drive 25 in Wheaton Neighborhoods Starting Aug. 1

The speed limit on neighborhood residential streets will be changing August 1 from 30 mph to 25 mph. Learn more about the speed limit change and which streets are not included in the change. You can pick up a free Drive 25 yard sign or car magnet at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street, starting July 30, while supplies last.

First Human Case of West Nile in DuPage County This Year

The DuPage County Health Department is reporting the first human case of West Nile virus (WNV) in DuPage County for 2018. A Wheaton resident in her 50s became ill in early July. You can read more about this on the DuPage County Health Department’s website. Please remember the 4 D’s of mosquito protection.

City Seeks Part-Time School Crossing Guards

Looking for a great way to help keep the students in our community safe as they head back to school? The City is seeing applicants for part-time school crossing guards. This is a seasonal paid position with the Wheaton Police Department. For more information, please visit www.wheaton.il.us/jobs.

Expect Delays Near County Fair

The 2018 DuPage County Fair begins today and will continue through Sunday at the DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road. During this time, motorists can expect traffic delays on streets surrounding the fairgrounds. Please use extra caution to ensure the safety of pedestrians going to and from the event.

North Main Street Resurfacing Project Begins This Week

The North Main Street Resurfacing Project in Wheaton is beginning this week. Prior to resurfacing, crews will be replacing sidewalks at intersections on North Main Street between Seminary Avenue and Cole Avenue.  The entire project is expected to be complete by late September, depending on weather conditions.

Save the Date for Bike Wheaton Festival

The annual Bike Wheaton Festival returns on Saturday, Aug. 11 with a bike parade, bike rodeo and more. Find out more about this event and see this video with the Wheaton Bicycle Commission.

New Location for August Electronic Recycling

Due to construction in the Public Works Storage Yard, the August electronic recycling collection will take place on Aug. 11 in Lot 9, located near the intersection of Carlton and Liberty Drive. This event will be for electronics ONLY; there will be no collection of scrap metal, fluorescent tube bulbs or cooking oil.
