Police Assist in Locating Man with Knife

On March 14, 2018 at 9:30 a.m., the Wheaton Police Department responded to assist the DuPage County Sheriff's Office in attempting to locate a man with a knife in the area of Geneva Road and Gary Avenue. Wheaton North High School, St. Mark's, and Carl Sandburg Elementary were placed on lockdown. The individual was located and subsequently taken into custody by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. This incident was unrelated to the schools and the lockdown was conducted as a precautionary measure.

Final Workshop to Discuss City Budget

If you would like to learn about the City’s proposed Short Fiscal Year 2018 Budget, you can attend the final Budget Workshop Session, which will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 17 at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street. City staff and the City Council will discuss and review the proposed City budget for the upcoming short fiscal year.  The proposed budget is available on the City’s website. Sunday Concert: Trillium

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, the Wheaton Public Library will host the acoustic quartet Trillium. They will provide an afternoon of Celtic music featuring banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and hammered dulcimer. The concert will be from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 18 at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N Cross Street.

Yard Waste Pickup

Yard waste, food scraps and organic materials are collected at the curb from the first full week of April through the second full week of December. Please do not place yard waste at the curb before the week of April 2, as Lakeshore Recycling Systems can’t accept these materials before the pickup season begins.

Early Voting Open

Early voting for the March 20 General Primary Election is now open in locations throughout DuPage County. The Wheaton location is at the DuPage Election Commission, 421 N County Farm Road.
