Workshops to Discuss City Budget

If you would like to learn about the City’s proposed Short Fiscal Year 2018 Budget, you can attend the City’s Budget Workshop Sessions, which will take place: 9 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 7 p.m. Monday, March 12, and 9 a.m. Saturday, March 17 at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W Wesley Street. City staff and the City Council will discuss and review the proposed City budget for the upcoming fiscal year. This upcoming budget will be an 8-month budget, as the City will be transitioning from a May to April fiscal year to a calendar year budget. The proposed budget is available on the City’s website.

Get Ready for Wheaton’s Summer of Golf!

The U.S. Golf Association will host its first-ever Senior Women’s Open Championship July 12-15, and it has selected the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton as the hosting course. The event will bring top senior women golfers to Wheaton, as well as thousands of spectators. A number of community organizations will be celebrating this exciting opportunity for Wheaton with events, activities and more – making this Wheaton’s Summer of Golf. Visit the City’s website at www.wheaton.il.us/golf2018 to learn about a golf ball community art project led by Wheaton’s Fine & Cultural Arts Commission, and find out how to apply to be a volunteer at the tournament.

Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries

Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 11. When you set your clocks ahead, the Wheaton Fire Department suggests that you replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, too. Replacing the batteries approximately every six months helps ensure they are functioning properly, and Daylight Saving Time is a good way to remind yourself when you last replaced the batteries.
