City Offices Closed Feb. 19

City of Wheaton offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Garbage pickup will not be affected.

Now Available: Check Your Building Permit Status Online

If you have applied for a building permit with the City’s Building Department, you can now check on the status of the permit through the City’s website. The City recently rolled out this feature to allow contractors and residents to see where the City is in the process of reviewing the application. You will need to know your contractor ID and application reference ID. Read these instructions on the City’s website and check the status of your permit.

Apply for Senior Housing Assistance Program

The City of Wheaton and the City’s Housing Commission sponsor a program to give monthly financial assistance toward housing to senior residents who qualify. Seniors may qualify if they are at least 65 years old, have been an incorporated Wheaton resident for at least the last consecutive 3 years, and their annual household income is no more than $25,800. You can find the application on the City’s website on the Housing Commission page

Discourage Coyotes from Your Property

Coyotes can become a nuisance when they have easy access to food in residential areas, such as pet food or garbage. Feed pets indoors or promptly remove dishes when pets complete their meal outside. Store bags of pet food indoors. DO NOT feed or provide water for coyotes or other wildlife. This practice abnormally attracts coyotes and promotes increased numbers of rodents, birds and other creatures that can provide major portions of the coyote’s natural diet.

The City of Wheaton seeks applicants for three positions: plan examiner, temporary seasonal worker in the Public Works Department, and a forestry intern/temporary seasonal worker. For more information on these positions and how to apply, visit www.wheaton.il.us/jobs.
