A number of streets will be temporarily closed the morning of Thursday, Nov. 23 while the Emerson Turkey Trot 5K takes place. You can see which roads will be closed on the City’s website.

No Garbage Pickup Nov. 23

Lakeshore Recycling Systems will not collect garbage, recycling or yard waste on Thursday, Nov. 23 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Pickups for Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24 will take place one day later than usual.

City Offices Closed

Non-emergency City offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24. They will reopen on Monday, Nov. 27.

Christmas Parade

Get Ready for the Wheaton Christmas Parade

A time-honored tradition, Wheaton comes together to celebrate the coming of Christmas with a hometown parade organized by the Downtown Wheaton Association starting at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24. Stick around until the end, because someone special and jolly pays his first visit to Wheaton! The parade begins at Wesley Street and Wheaton Avenue, heading south towards Front Street, then heads east on Front Street, ending at Cross Street.

Keep Leaves Out of the Streets

Please do not blow or rake leaves into the street. This can block storm sewers and lead to flooding issues. If possible, please help remove leaves and sticks near the storm sewers that are near your house to help them function properly. Burning leaves, tree trimmings, brush and related materials is not allowed in Wheaton and is a violation of City Code.
