Electronic Recycling This Weekend

In addition to recycling unwanted electronics, you can also bring your unwanted liquid vegetable cooking oil to the City’s Public Works Storage Yard this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Cooking oil will be recycled into biofuel. Please note there is a charge to recycle TVs and monitors. For more information, see the City’s website.

Veterans Day Observances

The Wheaton Park District will dedicate a new WWI Obelisk at Northside Park (1509 N. West St.) at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11. Then, head over to Memorial Park (208 W. Union Ave.) for a Veterans Day Ceremony led by American Legion Post 76. This ceremony will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Library Book Sale

Library Holiday Book & Art Sale Begins Tomorrow

Shop the Friends of the Library Holiday Book & Art Sale for treasures of all kinds. The sale features like-new gift books for adults and children, collectible books, leather-bound treasures, first editions, signed copies, pop-up books, framed and unframed artwork, and more. All proceeds benefit the library.

Final French Market of the Season

The final French Market for the season will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday in the parking lot at the southeast corner of Main Street and Liberty Drive. Find locally made goods, specialty foods, jewelry, flowers and more at this popular Wheaton event.

Thanks for Keeping Pumpkins Out of Landfills

The City appreciates the efforts of the Environmental Improvement Commission and volunteers from Wheaton North High School and College of DuPage, who collected 576 pumpkins last weekend during the City’s pumpkin compost collection. Thank you to the many residents who took part in this program and kept their pumpkins out of the landfill!

State Fire Marshal Warns of Fire Extinguisher Recall

The Office of the State Fire Marshal warns of an important recall notice for Kidde brand fire extinguishers due to a failure to properly activate during a fire emergency. The recall affects 134 models of Kidde fire extinguishers manufactured between January 1, 1973 and August 15, 2017. Affected consumers should immediately contact Kidde for a free replacement fire extinguisher.
