Kick Off the Year by Recycling Clothing, Electronics, and More on Saturday

Recycle a wide variety of items at the City’s monthly Electronic, Scrap Metal, Textile & More Recycling Events. The first collection of 2026 will be Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Storage Yard, 820 W. Liberty Drive.

In addition to electronics, scrap metal, and more, this event also accepts textiles. Textiles include items such as clothing, shoes, and bedding — even those that are too worn for donation. Recycling these items helps keep materials out of landfills and supports keeping Wheaton green.

Note that there is a charge for all TVs and monitors. For a full list of accepted items and event details, visit the City’s website.

Snow Removal Reminder: Help Keep Sidewalks Clear and Accessible

With snow in the forecast this weekend, we ask businesses and residents to help keep Wheaton safe by promptly clearing sidewalks adjacent to their properties. Clear sidewalks are important for customers, employees, children walking to school or bus stops, and all pedestrians traveling through our neighborhoods and commercial areas. As the City continues investing in a more pedestrian-friendly community, maintaining clear walkways is a simple way we can work together to improve accessibility and safety for everyone.

Use Recycle Coach to Recycle Right in Wheaton

To help our community recycle better and reduce household waste, the City of Wheaton has partnered with Recycle Coach, an online platform which connects residents with local recycling and garbage disposal information.

Using Recycle Coach on the City’s website or through the Recycle Coach mobile app, residents can:

  • Use the “What Goes Where” search tool to look up proper recycling and disposal methods for thousands of household items, including garbage sticker requirements, guidelines, and local drop-off locations for items not collected by LRS.
  • Receive collection reminders and real-time updates on service disruptions.
  • Report issues, such as missed collections, directly to LRS using the problem-reporting tool.

Residents can access Recycle Coach through the City’s website at wheaton.il.us/RecycleCoach or by downloading the Recycle Coach app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
