Expect Delays on Portions of Roosevelt Road Oct. 8-10 During IDOT Road Work

Crews for the Illinois Department of Transportation will be patching Roosevelt Road between Myrtlewood Lane in Wheaton and Winfield Road in Winfield this Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 8-10. While Roosevelt Road will remain open throughout this work, drivers should expect delays, as there will be temporary lane closures to complete this work. Drivers may want to choose an alternate route.

Portion of Illinois Street to be Temporarily Closed Oct. 9-10

Illinois Street between Wheaton Avenue and West Street will be temporarily closed during daytime hours on Thursday, Oct. 9, and Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, while a contractor performs sewer repair on this block. The City anticipates that crews will reopen the road to traffic during evening hours on Oct. 9, and all work should be completed by the end of the day Oct. 10. Drivers should follow the posted detour route around this block or find an alternate route while this block is temporarily closed. We appreciate your patience.

Portion of Hill Avenue Temporarily Closed during Storm Sewer Work

Hill Avenue between Prospect Street and Lorraine Street is closed now through approximately Oct. 20, 2025, while Glen Ellyn Public Works crews perform storm sewer work in this area. This area is near the border of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, so we are providing this notice to inform residents who may be affected by this work.

During this temporary closure, drivers are being directed to use a detour route using Prospect Street, Liberty Drive and Lorraine Road or find an alternate route. We appreciate your cooperation.

Hale Street Reopened

The tents on Hale Street have been removed for the season, and Hale Street has reopened to traffic between Front and Wesley streets. Thanks to all of our restaurants throughout the downtown and elsewhere for providing fantastic outdoor dining and entertainment experiences for the community throughout the warmer months. A special thank you to the Downtown Wheaton Association for providing entertainment and coordinating this event throughout the season.
