Thank you to the Wheaton Park District for organizing a fantastic Independence Day Parade, and thank you to all of the participants and spectators for sharing in a fantastic celebration! Check out this video to see highlights from the parade.

Reminder: Railroad Crossing at Cross Street Closed July 17-21

Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) has informed the City that necessary repairs to the Cross Street railroad crossing will require it to be closed from approximately 9 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, through 5 p.m. Monday, July 21. 

UPRR recently identified a rail defect at the Cross Street crossing and will perform these repairs to ensure the safety of both rail and vehicle traffic.

The posted detour route will direct northbound Cross Street traffic:

  • West (left) on Liberty Drive
  • North (right) on Main Street
  • East (right) on Front Street, and
  • North (left) on Cross Street

The detour will direct southbound Cross Street traffic:

  • West (right) on Wesley Street
  • South (left) on Main Street
  • East (left) on Liberty Drive, and
  • South (right) on Cross Street

Thank you for your patience as UPRR completes these important repairs.

Free Movie Night in the Park with the Wheaton Police Department on July 17

The Wheaton Park District and Wheaton Police Department are pleased to present a movie showing of Moana 2 on Thursday, July 17 at Seven Gables Park, 1750 S. Naperville Road. The movie will begin at dusk.

Moviegoers should bring their own chairs, blankets, favorite movie snacks and bug spray. The showing is free and open to the public.

The Downtown Wheaton Association and Wheaton Public Library present: “Movies Under the Stars." On Friday, July 18, enjoy a showing of Inside Out 2 starting at 8 p.m. at the Library's West Plaza, 225 N. Cross St.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for this free family-friendly movie showing.
