Walk Your Wheels Sign

"Walk Your Wheels" in Downtown Wheaton

As the days get warmer, Downtown Wheaton becomes even busier with more pedestrians and bicyclists. To help keep everyone safe, the City of Wheaton does not allow you to ride bicycles, skateboards, scooters, in-line skates or roller skates on the sidewalks within the heart of the downtown. While you can still ride bikes on the streets, if you choose to go on the sidewalk, you must "walk your wheels" within the boundaries of the following streets: Wesley Street to the north; Cross Street to the east; Willow Street to the south; and West Street to the west. For more information, visit the City's website.

Woof, Meow, Ready to Go: It’s Pet Preparedness Month

June is Pet Preparedness Month, and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) encourages pet owners to plan ahead for emergencies. Just like people, pets need a plan, too.

Start by putting together a pet emergency kit with essentials like food, water, medications, a leash, waste bags, and copies of medical records. Make sure your pet has up-to-date ID tags and a microchip. If you shelter in place, keep pets close in a safe area of your home. Lastly, team up with a trusted neighbor or friend who can help care for your pet if you're not home during an emergency.

Taking time now to prepare can help you and your pets stay safe, calm, and together in an emergency.

Employment Opportunities

The City of Wheaton has the following employment opportunities available:
