Lawn Watering

Watering Restrictions End Sept. 15

Lawn watering restrictions will end Sept. 15. Until then, residents can water on odd- or even-numbered days corresponding with odd- or even-numbered addresses. Watering is prohibited between noon and 6 p.m.

As a reminder, evaporation is highest during the hottest times of the day, reducing water absorption by plants and soil. Residents can continue to help water conservation efforts by avoiding watering during peak heat.

Detour Sign

Wesley Street Detour for Watermain Work and Road Reconstruction

Wesley Street will be closed between West Street and Western Avenue through approximately Sept. 20 while the contractor for the 2024 Road, Sewer and Water rehabilitation program continues working to replace the water main. The contractor plans to make the final connections at Gary Avenue, Ellis Avenue, and Western Avenue. Road reconstruction work will follow completion of all watermain work. Wesley Street will be reconstructed between Ellis Ave. and Western Ave.

Motorists using Wesley Street will be detoured around the area of construction. The detour route will direct westbound motorists to use Manchester Road and Bridge Street. The City suggests using an alternate route if possible and expect delays during this time.

September is Suicide Prevention Month

Every year, during National Suicide Prevention Month, individuals and organizations come together to highlight the problem of suicide and advocate its prevention. The DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) encourages residents to raise awareness in their communities.

For anyone experiencing difficult or suicidal thoughts, or anyone who knows someone who is, DCHD resources are available 24/7, including:

  • 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
  • DCHD’s Crisis Hotline
  • Mobile Crisis Response
  • Crisis Residential

Currently, DCHD is finalizing plans to build a Crisis Recovery Center, to be located at 115 County Farm Road in Wheaton on the DuPage County Health Department campus. This center will offer mental health and substance use services for children, adolescents, and adults. To learn more about the Crisis Recovery Center, visit DCHD's website.
