Wheaton Place Garage Floor Coating Work to Begin Sept. 9City crews will begin floor coating work on the stairwells and lobbies of the Wheaton Place Garage, 232 W. Wesley St., beginning Sept. 9. From Sept. 9-13, the west stair tower and the elevator lobbies on the second and fourth floors will be closed. During this closure, all patrons will be required to use the stairs on the east side of the garage, and individuals who require the use of the elevator should park on the first and third floors. From Sept. 16-20, the east stair tower and the elevator lobbies on the first and third floors will be closed. During this closure, all patrons will be required to use the stairs on the west side of the garage, and individuals who require the use of the elevator should park on the second and fourth floors. Signage will be posted during this work. Thank you for your patience while the City works to make important infrastructure improvements.

Wiesbrook Road Temporary Closure during Homecoming Parade Sept. 11On Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, Wiesbrook Road between Muirfield Circle and Butterfield Road will be temporarily closed from 5:30-7 p.m. for Wheaton Warrenville South High School's homecoming parade. Please do not move the barricades to ensure the safety of participants. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and may choose to alter their travel routes to avoid this area. Wesley Street Detour for Watermain Work and Road ReconstructionWesley Street will be closed between West Street and Western Avenue through approximately Sept. 20 while the contractor for the 2024 Road, Sewer and Water rehabilitation program continues working to replace the water main. The contractor plans to make the final connections at Gary Avenue, Ellis Avenue, and Western Avenue. Road reconstruction work will follow completion of all watermain work. Wesley Street will be reconstructed between Ellis Ave and Western Ave. Motorists using Wesley Street will be detoured around the area of construction. The detour route will direct westbound motorists to use Manchester Road and Bridge Street. The City suggests using an alternate route if possible and expect delays during this time.

Save the Date: September 11 Remembrance CeremonyThe City of Wheaton encourages the community to come together for Wheaton’s annual September 11 Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Memorial Park, 225 N. Karlskoga Ave. This event pays tribute to the individuals our community lost in the Sept. 11 attacks and the ensuing military conflicts, and it honors fire and police personnel.

2024 Festival of Cultures to Take Place Sunday, Sept. 15The 2024 Festival of Cultures, presented by the City of Wheaton Community Relations Commission, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 1-5 p.m. at Memorial Park, 225 N. Karlskoga Ave. Now in its sixth year, the Festival of Cultures celebrates the vibrant cultures that make Wheaton a warm and welcoming community to live, work, and visit. This free, family-friendly event features live entertainment, a passport activity for kids, an interactive art project, cultural booths, and storytelling.
