French Market Shoppers

Wheaton French Market Returns this Saturday, April 13

The Wheaton French Market returns every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 through Nov. 30 (with shorter hours to finish out the season Nov. 2-30). This year’s market will once again be held under the City’s downtown pavilion, just south of the railroad tracks near Main Street and Liberty Drive. This popular outdoor market run by Bensidoun USA is styled after the quaint outdoor markets of France, offering fresh produce, flowers, handcrafted goods, specialty foods, jewelry, crafts, baked goods and much more.

Please note that Liberty Drive will be closed between Main Street and Cross Street (including Municipal Lot 3) every Saturday until approximately 3 p.m. during the French Market season.

Dog on a Leash

Leash Law Reminder

For the safety of our community and the safety of pets, the City of Wheaton requires dogs to be on a leash in public areas, which includes while walking on sidewalks and in parks. In addition, please note that while in Wheaton Park District Parks, all dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet and may not run loose in the parks. Thank you for your cooperation.

Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Roosevelt Road Bridge Repairs Now Underway

The Illinois Department of Transportation has started repairs to the bridge carrying Roosevelt Road over Winfield Creek, east of County Farm Road, in Wheaton. Roosevelt Road is now reduced from two lanes to one in each direction, between Fapp Circle and Community Drive/Hazelton Avenue. Motorists should expect various lane shifts on both sides of Roosevelt Road approaching the bridge. The project, which consists of installing a new deck overlay, replacing expansion joints, and repairing approaches, is anticipated to be completed in October.

Flaggers will direct traffic around work crews. Drivers should expect delays during this work and may want to use another route. Please use caution if you are driving in this area.

ComEd to Perform Tree Trimming in Select Areas

Within the next three months, ComEd will trim trees, branches, and vines that interfere or have the potential to interfere with power lines. This work helps prevent safety hazards and power outages.

The work area is generally located along portions of the Illinois Prairie Path. Additionally, tree trimming will occur in west Wheaton, generally south of Roosevelt Road, and the far northeastern section of Wheaton, near the City's eastern boundary with Glen Ellyn.

Residents who are in affected areas will receive a notice from ComEd regarding this work. You can also view a map of impacted areas in Wheaton by visiting the City's website.

In some cases, tree removal may be required. The remaining tree stumps are treated with an approved herbicide to prevent future regrowth. Herbicide will be applied by state-licensed applicators. All work is performed by trained, qualified arborists.

For more information, visit ComEd.com/Trees or call 1-800-Edison-1 (1-800-334-7661).
