Save the Date: Native Plant Sale on Saturday, April 27

Wheaton has an opportunity to “grow native” with the return of the Native Plant Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at the City’s Public Works Storage Yard, 820 W. Liberty Drive. This event is provided through the partnership of the City's Environmental Improvement Commission, City of Wheaton, and Wheaton Park District to encourage the community to choose eco-friendly plants for their landscapes. Parkway Tree

Apply for the 2024 Shared Cost Parkway Tree Planting Program

Spots are limited! The City’s Forestry Division is still accepting applications for the 2024 Shared Cost Parkway Tree Planting Program. Open now through Feb. 29, or until allocated funds are met, this program allows property owners to pay $95 per tree to have City crews plant a new tree in the parkway adjacent to their property. Property owners can select from up to 12 species. View the application by visiting the City's website.

Homeless Man Found Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Woman Near Illinois Prairie Path

DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced that on Jan. 25, 2024, a jury found a homeless man guilty of sexually assaulting a woman near the Illinois Prairie Path in 2018. Wheaton Police took the suspect into custody in 2018, and he has remained in custody since that time. For more information on this verdict and the Wheaton Police Department's and DuPage County State's Attorney's efforts, please see the City's website.

Tree

ComEd to Perform Tree Trimming in Select Areas

Within the next three months, ComEd will trim trees, branches, and vines that interfere or have the potential to interfere with power lines. This work helps prevent safety hazards and power outages. The work area generally includes South Blanchard Street from Wilson Avenue to Briarcliffe Boulevard and some surrounding areas. You can view a map of impacted areas in Wheaton by visiting the City's website.

Ice-A-Palooza Takes Place this Saturday, Feb. 3

On Feb. 3, join the Wheaton Park District for skating, entertainment, a food truck, character visits, a Wheaton Police Department vs. Wheaton Fire Department hockey game, and more at Ice-A-Palooza. This free outdoor event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Athletic Complex Ice Rinks, 500 S. Naperville Road. Find out more on the Wheaton Park District's website.
