American Legion Post #76 to host Veterans Day Ceremony this SaturdayAmerican Legion Post #76 will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m. The event will take place at Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

Electronic Recycling this SaturdayBring unwanted electronics to the monthly electronic recycling collection on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Public Works Storage Yard, 820 W. Liberty Drive. This is a drive-through event where volunteers will help unload items from your car. There is a charge for all TVs and monitors at this event. Upcoming City Budget Workshop SessionsThe Wheaton City Council will discuss the draft 2024 City Budget during two workshop sessions at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 and at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. The community is welcome to attend in person at City Hall, 303 W. Wesley, or attend via Zoom. The draft City budget is now available on the City's website.

Help Stuff the Squad for Midwest Shelter for Homeless VeteransThe Wheaton Police Department will be hosting a Stuff the Squad event for neighbors in need from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Wheaton Police Department, 900 W. Liberty Drive. This event is benefiting the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans. Residents are encouraged to help stuff a squad car full of household/cleaning/personal care items. Those who would like to drop off items but are unable to do so during the Stuff the Squad event time may drop off items in the Wheaton Police Department lobby. Stormwater Utility Fee Lookup Map Now AvailableThe City is proposing to restructure the existing stormwater utility based on each property's impervious surface area (any area on the property that prevents stormwater from draining into the soil), rather than water consumption. Check out the Stormwater Utility Fee Lookup Map, a new interactive tool where you can search for your address to see the impervious area calculation for your property and estimated fee. Citizens Police Academy Concludes with GraduationThe Wheaton Citizens Police Academy, a 10-week program in which community members learned the inner workings of police operations, practices, and objectives, recently concluded with a graduation for all the participants! The academy included classroom instruction, interactive discussions, and hands-on practical exercises focusing on various aspects of police work, including investigations, forensics, patrol response, traffic stops, specialty teams, critical incidents, and more.
