City of Wheaton Leaf Collection RemindersAs the autumn leaves begin to fall, the City of Wheaton reminds you of the ways you can properly dispose of leaves. - When you’re cleaning up leaves, please be careful not to blow or rake them into the streets. Doing so can prevent storm sewers from functioning properly and can lead to flooding. If your house is located near a storm sewer catch basin, please help keep it clear by sweeping away leaves and debris from the sewer grate.
- Place leaves in containers 35 gallons in size or smaller, or in biodegradable bags.
- Containers or bags must weigh less than 50 pounds when filled.
- Each container or bag requires an LRS yard waste/organics/excess garbage sticker.
- LRS collects yard waste, food scraps and organic materials on your garbage day through the second full week of December.
For more information, visit the City's website.

Stormwater Utility Fee Lookup Map Now AvailableThe City is proposing to restructure the existing stormwater utility based on each property's impervious surface area (any area on the property that prevents stormwater from draining into the soil), rather than water consumption. Check out the Stormwater Utility Fee Lookup Map, a new interactive tool where you can search for your address to see the impervious area calculation for your property and estimated fee. You can learn more about the proposed fee restructuring at wheaton.il.us/stormwaterutility.

Keeping Warm During Winter; Heating Ordinance & Permit ReminderThe colder months are fast approaching. The City of Wheaton has established heating ordinance requirements to ensure that all residents remain warm and comfortable. From Sept. 15 through June 1, any individuals that rent or lease one or more dwelling units within the City are required to provide a minimum indoor temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit for their tenants. Additionally, now is a good time for homeowners and landlords to have their heating systems checked by a qualified professional to confirm that the unit is working properly. If it is determined that the furnace needs to be replaced, a permit must be obtained from the Building Department. For more information, please visit the City's website.
