Temporary Parking Restrictions for DuPage County Fair on July 28-30

The DuPage County Fair will take place July 28-30, 2023, at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road.

During this time, there will be no parking on the following streets:

  • Both sides of Hazelton between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Beverly between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Erie between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Shirley Court 
  • Both sides of White Oak (complete length)
  • Both sides of Maple Leaf Court (complete length)
  • Both sides of Hickory Lane (complete length)
  • Both sides of Vernon Avenue (complete length)
  • Both sides of Pierce Avenue between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Morgan Avenue between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Dorchester Avenue between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Woodlawn Street between Manchester and Childs
  • Both sides of Knollwood Drive between Manchester and Liberty
  • Both sides of Liberty Drive between Knollwood and Dead End
  • Both sides of Manchester Road between Bates Street and Knollwood
  • Both sides of Westwood 
  • Both sides of Beecher 
  • Both sides of Birch

There will be “Temporary No Parking” signage posted during this time. Residents, citizens, and motorists are being asked for their cooperation and compliance in not parking in these designated areas. For more information about this event, see the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds’ website.


Creekside Bridge

Creekside Bridge Replacement Project to Begin July 31

Based upon its age, the Creekside Drive bridge over Spring Brook Creek (located on Creekside Drive between Spring Green Drive and Gone Away Lane) is reaching the end of its useful life and is due for replacement. To continue enhancing the community’s infrastructure, the Wheaton City Council recently authorized Herlihy Mid-Continent Company to replace the bridge. Work will begin July 31, weather permitting. Join the Wheaton Police for National Night Out on Aug. 1

Join the Wheaton Police Department from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at Northside Park (1300 N. West St.) for National Night Out, a nationwide night where communities connect with their local police departments and raise awareness about safety in the community. The Wheaton Police Department encourages you to bring your family for a night full of fun which will include food and drinks, music, a donut eating contest, and a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Celebrate Wheaton Warhol Birthday Party at the Plaza Aug. 5

As the summer of Wheaton Warhol continues, Wheaton’s Fine & Cultural Arts Commission encourages the community to come celebrate Andy Warhol’s birthday with art, music, a pop-up art exhibition and more from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. The event will take place on the Liberty Drive plaza near the Wheaton French Market, just east of Main Street. This event continues the celebration of Pop Art in honor of the McAninch Arts Center’s Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop exhibit at the College of DuPage. Prepare for Extreme Heat

Our area is expected to see extreme heat in the coming days, with the potential heat index of 100 degrees or higher. If you are in need of a cooling center, please see the City’s website. You will also find tips on preventing heat emergencies and recognizing signs of heat-related illnesses.

Please check on your neighbors, elderly residents and others who may need assistance to keep cool and safe during extremely hot weather. Do not leave pets or children alone in a vehicle for any amount of time, and be watchful for signs of heat-related illness. In the case of a medical emergency, call 911.

Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Repairing Track at Washington Street

The UPRR plans to repair a portion of the track at Washington Street from August 4-6. During the work, the crossing will be closed to all traffic. Detour signage will be posted to reroute traffic during this time.
