To help keep everyone safe, the City of Wheaton does not allow you to ride bicycles, skateboards, scooters, in-line skates or rollerskates on the sidewalks within the heart of the downtown. While you can still ride on the streets, if you choose to go on the sidewalk, you must "walk your wheels" within the boundaries of the following streets: Wesley Street to the north; Cross Street to the east; Willow Street to the south; and West Street to the west. Road Improvements Begin SoonEach year, the City budgets to improve miles of roads throughout the community based on factors such as condition and age. Depending on the condition of the roadway and underground utilities, the City will either resurface, rehabilitate or reconstruct roads, and work may also include replacing water main and/or replacing curbs. A contractor for the City, R.W. Dunteman Company, will begin their portion of the City's annual Road Program starting next week. You can see which roads are scheduled for improvement this year at www.wheaton.il.us/roads, and the City will post updates on this page throughout the construction season. Residents who will be directly affected by this work will receive notices with further instructions prior to work beginning.
