After 20 years representing the City of Wheaton as City Attorney, James Knippen will be retiring in February. Monday, Feb. 6, 2023 will be Knippen’s final City Council meeting in this role. Shared Cost Parkway Tree Planting Program

With the start of a new year comes a new opportunity for you to add a parkway tree in front of your property. The Forestry Division is now accepting applications for the 2023 Shared Cost Parkway Tree Planting Program. As we continue seeking ways to encourage sustainable actions in our community, this year’s program has been significantly expanded to provide shared-cost funding for up to 200 new trees on a first-come, first-served basis. Open now through March 1, this program allows property owners to pay $95 per tree to have City crews plant a new tree in the parkway adjacent to their property. Property owners can select from up to 12 species. See the City's website for the application.

Snow Parking Reminder

Snow Parking Reminders

Knowing where and when you can park when it snows helps crews clear streets as quickly as possible. Under City Code 70-344, after 2 inches of accumulated snow, parking is prohibited on any City street, and Downtown Wheaton parking is prohibited from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Vehicles obstructing plows may be towed by the Wheaton Police Department at the owner’s expense. This allows Wheaton’s Public Works Department to clear the roadways efficiently and safely. Clearing the City of snow and ice can be a tremendous task for Wheaton’s Public Works. Please help keep Wheaton’s streets safe by reporting dangerous roadway conditions to 9-1-1 and clearing sidewalks adjacent to your residence or business.
