Kick Off the Holiday Season with Nights of Lights, Parade and Tree LightingWhether you’re looking to continue annual traditions or try something new, there’s something for everyone to kick off the holiday season starting on Friday, Nov. 25 in downtown Wheaton, brought to you by the Downtown Wheaton Association and the City of Wheaton.
Start with the return of the Nights of Lights in Adams Park, which will come to life with a park lighting at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25. This year’s display will be more spectacular than ever, featuring a beautiful park entry display at Main Street and Wesley, more than 55,000 lights and a new animated light display at the fountain. You will be able to enjoy the lights each night from dusk to 10 p.m. throughout the holiday season.
Wheaton’s holidays wouldn’t be the same without the tradition of the Wheaton Christmas Parade. After enjoying the Nights of Lights, find a spot for the lighted parade, which steps off at 6 p.m. near Wheaton City Hall, travelling south on Wheaton Avenue and west on Front Street.
Once the parade is over, travel over to the new pavilion on Liberty Drive, where we’ll count down the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Marvel at a 22-foot lighted tree, enjoy music and more in the beautiful new pavilion near Liberty and Main Street. Activities will start at approximately 6:45 p.m. with the tree lighting at 7 p.m.
For more information on these events and more throughout the entire holiday season, visit the Downtown Wheaton Association’s website.

Scam Involving Impersonation of Police OfficerThe Wheaton Police Department has received numerous reports from area residents and businesses that were called by an individual claiming to be associated with the Wheaton Police Department. In this scam, the suspect, who is using the name of a retired police officer, claims that the resident failed to appear in court as a witness, and he has warrants for their arrest. He instructs them to send money through Zelle or Venmo to an address in Washington D.C. to resolve the arrest charges.
The Wheaton Police Department does not contact individuals by phone to request payment for an arrest, nor would the Police Department instruct individuals to wire or send money. Residents can always contact the Wheaton Police Department at 630-260-2161 to confirm the legitimacy of a caller claiming to be from the Police Department. To learn about how to protect yourself from five common scams, check out this video from the Wheaton Police Department.
If you are contacted by this individual or have information related to this scam, please contact Sgt. Potter at 630-260-2059.

New Location for Daily Fee Parking in Lot 9Due to a decreased demand for parking in the City's Commuter Parking Lot 9 (located at Carlton & Liberty), daily fee parking spaces are moving from the west side of the lot to the north side, near Liberty Drive. This will allow the City to more cost-effectively clear snow from the lot this winter. In the coming days, portions of the west and south sides will be blocked off. Daily fee parking signs have been installed on the north side to show the new area for daily fee parking.
