Some City Projects on Hold Due to Aggregate Material StrikeThis time of year, road and underground utility improvement projects the City plans and budgets for are typically underway, including asphalt resurfacing, road reconstruction and water main/sewer replacement. However due to the strike by International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, the City and its contractors are unable to acquire materials needed for asphalt paving. The end of the strike is unknown. The projects planned for 2022 are listed on the City’s website at www.wheaton.il.us/roads. Many other communities are experiencing similar delays with their projects due to this strike. We will provide an update once this situation has been resolved and work begins, and you will be able to follow the progress of many of these projects on the City’s website throughout the construction season.
