Memorial Day Parade and Corresponding Road ClosuresThe American Legion Post 76 will host a Memorial Day Parade on May 30, 2022, in Wheaton. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at the corner of Hale Street and Wesley Street and proceed to Wheaton Cemetery where a ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. All veteran, youth groups, business, schools, bands and city entities are welcome to join the parade. If a group wishes to participate, arrive at Wheaton Memorial Park, the intersection of West Union Avenue and North Hale Street, by 9:30 a.m. on May 30 and check in with the members of the American Legion Parade Committee. They will be wearing red ball caps and will be located at the southeast corner of the park. No registration is required to participate in the parade. Parade participants must be dropped off outside the park area, cars will not be allowed in the park unless the vehicle is in the parade. Political, lifestyle, or advertisement of product is not allowed during the parade. There will not be any distribution of any materials, handouts or candy during the parade or ceremony. This event is a memorial to those that have given their life in service to our country. The following roads will be closed for the parade from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.: - Wesley Street from West Street to Hale Street
- West Street from Wesley Steet to Roosevelt Road
- Warrenville Road from Roosevelt Road to Merrill Drive
- Plamondon Rd from Merrill Drive is open southbound one-way only

Notice of Fireworks Display Planned for May 25Fireworks are planned to take place at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 near Wheaton North High School as part of the school’s Spring Fling event. The City of Wheaton is providing this notice so that residents are not alarmed if they hear/see the fireworks display, especially those who are sensitive to the sound of fireworks.

City Offices Closed Monday, May 30In observance of Memorial Day, non-emergency City offices will be closed on Monday, May 30. Due to the holiday, there is no garbage/recycling/yard waste pickup on May 30, so all pickups for the week of May 30 will be one day later than usual.

DuPage County Art Festival Takes Place This WeekendDuPage County’s inaugural Community Arts Festival is happening this Saturday, May 28, at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. A variety of musical acts will perform throughout the day and food trucks will be available as well as a beer tent. Local community artists will be showcasing and selling their art throughout the festival. Cream of Wheaton Returns June 2 – June 5The Cream of Wheaton has returned for another year of fun! After a two year hiatus due to COVID-19 gathering limitations, the event is coming back Thursday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5, 2022. The weekend will consist of an arts and crafts fair, carnival, business expo, the Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals, and a variety of food vendors and live entertainment in the new bandshell in Memorial Park! Wheaton Municipal Band Returns June 9The Wheaton Municipal Band is back for another summer of performances and kicks off their season on June 9 at the bandshell in Memorial Park. Their opening concert will celebrate the joys of making music and the band will be joined by students from Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South High Schools for an antiphonal finale that will not be forgotten. Every Thursday, starting on June 9 through August 4, as weather permits, the Municipal band will hold a concert in the bandshell. The concerts are free, and all are welcome.
