Arbor Day tree planting

Arbor Day is This Friday

On Friday, April 29, the City’s Forestry Division is looking forward to celebrating Arbor Day at Emerson Elementary School with a tree planting ceremony. Students will help plant a tree along with our Forestry crew, City officials and the City’s Environmental Improvement Commission. For 37 consecutive years, Wheaton has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation, a designation we are proud to earn as a sign of our commitment to preserving Wheaton’s trees.

COVID-19 Update

The CDC has raised the COVID-19 Community Level in DuPage County from “low” to “medium” based on current cases of COVID-19 in our area. This measurement is a tool to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest data. The CDC recommendations for areas within the “medium” category include:

  • If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions
  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
  • Get tested if you have symptoms

The current positivity rate in DuPage County is 8.36%. You can find more information on the CDC’s website.
