Body worn cameras

Wheaton Police Officers to Begin Using Body Worn Cameras

In April 2022, the Wheaton Police Department will begin equipping all sworn police officers with body worn cameras. Introducing this technology into our Police Department’s operations involved substantial research, planning and investment. Once in place, this is another tool our Police Department will use to promote transparency and accountability in our service to the community.

Learn about the rollout of this initiative, and watch this introductory video from the Wheaton Police Department on this program. We will also be releasing a weekly series of short videos answering questions about body worn cameras. Follow the City on Facebook or Twitter (@CityOfWheaton) or visit the City’s website for these weekly videos.

Green Building

Find Green Building Resources on City’s Website

As construction season approaches, the City of Wheaton Building Department has compiled resources for residents to consider making their projects more environmentally sustainable. A new section on the City’s website now lists building industry resources that can help provide information on things such as energy efficiency and different certifications for eco-friendly building practices. Learn about LEED-certified building standards, Energy Star ratings and how you can incorporate efficiency into your projects at www.wheaton.il.us/greenbuilding.

Last Call for Memorial Park Online Feedback before Feb. 28 Discussion

As part of the City’s and the Park District’s shared goal of ensuring that the newly renovated Memorial Park Bandshell provides an entertainment and performing arts venue for the community to enjoy while respecting the surrounding area, the City will be reviewing the past year’s activities during a discussion with the Wheaton Park District during the Wheaton City Council’s Planning Session at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28 at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St. Remote participation will be available through Zoom for those who would like to attend virtually.

You can read more and share input ahead of the meeting at www.wheaton.il.us/memorialpark. The discussion is part of the special use permit for the new bandshell, which requires a meeting after a year of operations to determine if any fine-tuning is needed.
