Snow Reminders as Wheaton Cleans Up

Wheaton received a considerable amount of snow over the past 24 hours, and crews are continuing cleanup efforts throughout the City. Snow plows are returning in some areas to clear streets all the way to the curb to follow up on initial plowing to make traffic lanes passable for drivers.

There are several things that you can do to help expedite this process:

  • Do not park on the street until after all streets have been cleared to the curb.
  • Give plows room. Do not ride closely behind snow plows.
  • If there’s a fire hydrant near your property, keep a perimeter of about 3 feet clear around the hydrant so firefighters can quickly access it in an emergency.
  • Do not blow snow into the street. This will slow down snow clearing operations and is a violation of City Code.
  • Help clear neighbors’ sidewalks if you are able.

For more information about snow removal efforts, visit the City’s website at www.wheaton.il.us/SNOW.
