Portion of Wesley Street Closed on Thursday, Nov. 18Wesley Street from Cross Street to Main Street will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, Nov. 18 from approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to replace a storm sewer manhole as part of the Downtown Streetscape Project.
Detour signs will be posted directing westbound traffic on Wesley Street and northbound traffic on Cross Street.
The detour route is:
- From northbound Cross Street - Front Street, to northbound Scott Street, to westbound Seminary Avenue, to southbound Main Street, to westbound Wesley Street.
- From eastbound Wesley Street - northbound Scott Street, to westbound Seminary Avenue, to southbound Main Street, to westbound Wesley Street

Proposed 2022 Budget and Budget Workshop Recordings Available on City WebsiteThe City hosted two separate budget workshop meetings on Monday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 13 in which City staff and the City Council reviewed the proposed budget for the upcoming year. The City Council will hold the Budget Public Hearing meeting on Monday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. Visit the City’s website to view the proposed Calendar Year 2022 Budget or to view the previous budget workshop meetings.

City Council Issues Proclamation in Honor of American Education WeekIn conjunction with American Education Week, Mayor Suess presented a proclamation of appreciation at a City Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 17 recognizing the important work of our local school board members, administrators, teachers, parents and all those involved in educating our community's children. The proclamation especially highlighted those who provide educational excellence for students in Wheaton and who go beyond their normal duties to mentor, motivate, care for and encourage Wheaton's children. Community Unit School District 200 School Board Member Susan Booton accepted the proclamation on behalf of the School Board. Visit the City’s website to view the proclamation.

Save the Date: Wheaton Christmas ParadeThe Wheaton Christmas Parade is back! Join the community on Friday, Nov. 26 for the return of this holiday tradition. Hosted by the Wheaton Park District in partnership with the Downtown Wheaton Association and the City of Wheaton, this event will begin at 6 p.m. and usher in the holiday season with a colorful, light-filled parade through downtown Wheaton. The parade will travel from Wheaton Avenue at Wesley Street south to Front Street, turning east (left) on Front Street, and finishing at Cross Street. Businesses and organizations can still enter the parade for free by registering by Friday, Nov. 19. Visit the Wheaton Park District's website for more information.

“Light Up Wheaton” Holiday Display Contest Registration OpenHelp Light Up Wheaton this year by simply putting out lights and decorations in the coming weeks by adding lights and decorations outside your home, business, or other organization for all to see. And, if you’d like to show off your displays as part of the Light Up Wheaton display contest, you can register through Friday, Dec. 10 on the Wheaton Park District's website.

Purchase Your Mugs for the Downtown Cider & Cookie StrollMugs are still available for the Downtown Wheaton Association’s Cider & Cookie Stroll event on Saturday, Nov. 27. Residents and visitors can wander through the retail shops of downtown Wheaton and visit participating businesses offering cider with their own unique flavorings and toppings along with festive holiday cookies.
