Community Forums for Wheaton's Strategic Plan

As part of the process to develop a new strategic plan for Wheaton, the City will host two forums encouraging the community to weigh in. The forums will be at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Wheaton City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St. Led by national consultant Management Partners, these gatherings will use an interactive format to help identify the community’s priorities and where you would like to see the City Council focus its efforts in the near future.

The forums, along with feedback gathered from the online survey Management Partners administered last month, will collect important input from the Wheaton community that will be shared with the Wheaton City Council.

Main Street

Temporary Lane Closures Planned Thursday on Main Street

In order to complete underground utility work associated with the Downtown Streetscape Project, crews will need to temporarily limit traffic to one lane on Main Street from Wesley to Seminary for part of the day on Thursday, March 12.

From approximately 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., crews will use flaggers to allow one direction of traffic through at a time on this block of Main Street. Drivers should expect temporary delays and may want to consider an alternative route during this time. The stoplights at Main & Liberty and Main & Wesley will be flashing red through Friday afternoon to assist with traffic flow and flaggers. Thank you for your patience.

Wheaton Police Conducting Special Patrols March 12-17

Because St. Patrick's Day is one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to the number of drunk drivers on the road, Wheaton Police will conduct special patrols March 12-17 targeting impaired drivers & seat belt use. If you’ll be drinking or using another impairing substance, plan ahead for a sober ride home.

Electronic Recycling Available This Weekend

Did you know that you can bring unwanted electronics, cooking oil, clothing and more to the City’s Public Works Storage Yard once a month for recycling? From 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, March 14, you can drop off items at 820 W. Liberty Drive (near the Police Station). Please note there is a charge to recycle TVs and monitors. Find out more about the items you can/can’t bring on the City’s website.
