Detour

Temporary Closure for One Block of Main Street Tomorrow

Crews working on underground infrastructure as part of the Downtown Streetscape Project will need to temporarily close traffic for the block of Main Street between Front Street and Wesley Street for a portion of the day Thursday, March 5, starting at 6 a.m. During this work, traffic will remain open on Front Street, but temporary detours will be in place around this block of Main Street, with traffic lights at Liberty and Main flashing red during this time.

Businesses along Main Street and Front Street will remain open and will be fully accessible to pedestrians. This work will not affect the sidewalks or entrances to businesses.

Crews will reopen Main Street as soon as they are able to complete this underground work. Thank you for patience during this temporary closure.

New Building Codes Now in Effect

On Feb. 3, the Wheaton City Council voted to adopt the most recent International Code Council (ICC) building codes in order to promote the health, safety and welfare of our community. The changes, which consist of the 2018 editions of the ICC building codes with local amendments appropriate for Wheaton, are now in effect. The full ordinance is available to review on the City’s website. If you have questions, please contact the City’s Building Department at 630-260-2050.

Wheaton Police Conducting Special Patrols March 12-17

Because St. Patrick's Day is one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to the number of drunk drivers on the road, Wheaton Police will conduct special patrols March 12-17 targeting impaired drivers & seat belt use. If you’ll be drinking or using another impairing substance, plan ahead for a sober ride home.
