Hale Street Closed for Outdoor Dining Tents

Downtown Tents

The block of Hale Street between Front Street and Wesley Street in downtown Wheaton is now closed to vehicle traffic to allow for outdoor dining tents during the spring, summer and fall.

The City and the Downtown Wheaton Association are pleased to welcome the return of these outdoor dining tents on Hale Street from May 7 through Oct. 31. The City authorized the Downtown Wheaton Association to use the block of Hale Street between Front Street and Wesley Street for large outdoor dining tents that are shared by the surrounding restaurants.

First introduced during 2020 to allow restaurants to offer more space for serving residents during the initial stages of COVID-19, the City approved their return for 2021 and 2022. Not only are local restaurants able to provide more space for dining, but it also provides an opportunity for open-air dining in a lively atmosphere.

The Downtown Wheaton Association oversees this community favorite between May and October, bringing in entertainment on weekend nights. Be sure to follow the Downtown Wheaton Association on Facebook or visit their website at www.downtownwheaton.com to see their entertainment lineup and special events.
