The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be completing several road resurfacing projects in Wheaton starting in mid-July, with an estimated completion date by the end of September. The following areas are included in this project:
- Harrison Avenue from College Avenue to Ellis Avenue: scheduled to begin the week of July 14
- Blanchard Street from President Street to Hawkins Circle: scheduled to begin the week of July 21
- President Street from Blanchard Street to Route 38: scheduled to begin the week of July 21
The scope of this project will include some spot curb replacement, replacing sidewalk corners for ADA compliance; adjusting storm and sanitary structures; and resurfacing the roadway. Residents directly affected by this work will receive notification from the City with specific information on where to park if the curb replacement will affect the driveway apron in front of their home.
A electronic message board will be placed at the project limits. Motorists should expect delays and should consider using alternate routes during construction.
A portion of these projects is supported by federal funding.
